The facts, calmly

You can't see it. You can measure it.

Radon is a naturally occurring gas that rises from Utah's soil. No color, no odor, no warning. The only way to know your home's level is to test it. That's not a sales pitch; it's physics.

0
Senses can detect it

Invisible, odorless, tasteless. Homes next door to each other can have completely different levels.

#1

Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among people who have never smoked.

10.0 pCi/L — radon concentration in your home
Right now · no warning signs

You can't smell it. You can't taste it. You can't see it.

And yet, at this level, the air your family breathes every night carries more than twice the EPA action limit. Nothing in your home will ever warn you.

Still above 4.0 · still dangerous

Lower — but your family is still not safe.

Opening windows won't fix it. Waiting won't either. Radon rises from the soil beneath your foundation, 24 hours a day, whether anyone is thinking about it or not.

Flirting between low and moderate risk · we can do better

Good isn't always the goal. Lower is.

A system engineered for your foundation pulls radon from beneath the slab and vents it above the roof — before it ever reaches your family's air. Installed clean, in about 4 hours.

Verified · post-install retest

And this is the number we come back to prove.

Your result gets verified with a retest and put in your hands. Not a promise — a measurement. Backed by our Low-Level Guarantee and a lifetime transferable warranty.

Illustrative example based on customer-reported results — every home is different. Your actual result is verified with a post-install retest. EPA recommends action at 4.0 pCi/L.

We treat your home like it’s ours, then leave it cleaner than we found it.

Our crew shows up in branded vans, lays down mats, slips on booties and vacuums on the way out. The only thing we leave behind is a quietly-running fan and a radon level your family can breathe easy about.

  • Mats down, booties on, full cleanup before we leave
  • Most systems installed in about 4 hours
  • Your home handed back exactly as we found it

Safety you can feel. A system built for your home.

We design every system on site, around how your home is actually built. Routing, fan sizing, and placement get picked for your house instead of a one-size-fits-all template, so the protection fits the home it protects.

  • Routing planned around your home's architecture
  • Fan sizing and placement chosen for your home
  • System design based on your home's construction

The difference, in one sentence

Anyone can promise you a safe home. We come back and prove it.

The post-install retest is our signature. After the work is done, your radon level is measured again — verified, not assumed. That's not an estimate or a claim. It's a number you can hold us to, backed by the Low-Level Guarantee and a lifetime transferable warranty.

Two generations, one mission

Radon isn't a side hustle. Protecting Utah families is our life's work.

JJ Morley, owner of Utah Radon Defense
1985

Don Walker starts in the field

Don Walker — JJ's uncle — got into indoor air quality work in 1985, for one reason: to save lives. That's where this company's roots are.

Early 2000s

Radon becomes the mission

Don brought radon testing and mitigation into the business, and Utah Radon Defense was founded in 2000 to focus on it full-time — turning decades of indoor air quality know-how toward the one gas you can't see, smell, or taste.

Today

JJ Morley leads the next generation

JJ Morley leads Utah Radon Defense today, carrying on Don's mission to protect Utah families. Family-owned, with 4,000+ systems installed, every one backed by a lifetime transferable warranty, because a promise is only as good as the family that stays to honor it.

Questions, answered first

Everything homeowners ask us.

Do you assess my home before quoting?

Yes — always. We never quote over the phone or from a satellite map. A specialist visits your home, evaluates its construction, and designs a system for it before you see a price. The on-site estimate is free.

How low will my radon go?

Every home is different, so we don't promise a number up front. What we do promise: our Low-Level Guarantee, and a post-install retest so you see your actual result — not our claim.

Do you retest after the install?

Yes. Verification is part of the job. After installation, your radon level is retested so the system's performance is proven with a real reading — not just a promise.

How much does radon mitigation cost?

Most radon systems in Utah run $1,700–$2,500 installed for a typical home with a basement. Homes with a crawl space or a more complex layout can run higher — every home is different, which is exactly why we come see it before quoting. The on-site estimate is free, the price is based on your actual home, and flexible financing is available.

How long does the installation take?

Most systems are installed in about 4 hours. Mats down, booties on, everything tidied up before we leave.

What areas do you serve?

Utah County, the Salt Lake Valley, and the Heber Valley. From Springville and South Jordan we serve Mapleton, Spanish Fork, Payson, Provo, Orem, Lehi, American Fork, Highland, Alpine, Saratoga Springs, Eagle Mountain, Draper, Riverton, Herriman, Heber, Midway, and nearby communities.

Are you licensed and certified?

Yes. Licensed by the State of Utah, with NRPP, ARP (Advanced Radon Professional), IEA, MFMT, and RRNC certifications, a BBB A+ rating, and Licensed Building Contractor status. Every system carries a lifetime transferable performance warranty.
